AQUALIENNE® eco-turbine
Our subsidiary,
ISI, develops and manufactures AQUALIENNES®, a new patented process for low-head hydro-electrical eco-turbines.
The performances and ecological benefits of these "green turbines" can be used on many public and private sites to generate electricity: streams, windmills, former factories, canals, reaches, etc.
The AQUALIENNE® process can provide homes and public authorities with an innovative, effective and long-term solution for hydro-electric production using a free and renewable energy source.
ECOLOGICAL hydroelectric turbine
- Slow rotation of approximately 12 rpm ensures that fish can pass through unharmed.
- Integrated device for the evacuation of canal bed silt.
AQUALIENNE® eco-turbines protect fauna and flora without fail. They are designed to meet current environmental requirements and future changes to these requirements.
COST-SAVING hydroelectric turbine
Head: approx. 1 - 3m
Flows of approx. 1 - 15 m3/s
Canal width: 2 - 6 m
Capacity installed: 20 - 300 KW
- Authorisation not required for installation on existing sites with current and uninterrupted dam rights (former factories and windmills) according to the French water law
- Operation from the first KW/H maintaining the production of electricity in periods of low water flow (via compensation water)
- Integrated regulation of compensation and discharged water; automated management with remote control via an Internet connection
- Connection to the ERDF network with sale of electricity
The reliability and yield of AQUALIENNE® eco-turbines can ensure a return on investment over twelve to fifteen years
(depending on the equipment installed; on the basis of current EDF rates).

Our customers and delivery sites are spread out in many European countries - France, Spain, Italy, Germany, England, Poland and Romania – but also in China, India Canada and Latin America.
Our international competitiveness is based on three key factors: our purchase and logistics engineering, our low and middle cost production capacities in India and Tunisia and our specialised French units which ensure the security of production in emerging countries.
In the coming years, to continue supporting its customers in all parts of the world and offer them optimal production costs, the group is planning to set up more international sites and partnerships, particularly in the Americas.
Diversifying customer sectors
The Slicom group intends to continue its diversification policy in order to take advantage of the opportunities offered by growth sectors such as energy, railways, defence, etc.
Its five-year business plan reflects the group’s desire to enter the nuclear energy sector and considerably strengthen its position there. It eventually hopes to devote a quarter of its activity to this sector.
For this purpose, the group shall engage in growth by acquisition in order to upgrade its current know-how, particularly in the machining and assembling of large sized parts, by bringing in skills that are specific to this field of activity.
